Street Smarts (Higher Learning Book 2) Kindle Edition
Tattoos, dog tags, and a heart of gold, Otto is exactly the type of man Rip would go for. In his dreams. When socially awkward meets carefree and confident, it’s probably best they go their separate ways. Their only excuse to ever see one another again is an adorable pup in need of a good home.
Unless they really don’t need any excuses at all.

About the author

Bianca Sommerland, author of the award winning Dartmouth Cobras series, was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. After hitting the USA TODAY Bestsellers list, and being invited to teach several classes on writing in the sports and BDSM genre, they retreated to their writing cave and can still be found there, doing what they've always done. Which is writing whatever the characters tell them to.
When not reading neurotically or writing as though the fate of the world rests on their keyboard, they are either watching hockey or teaching their children the beauty of a classic, steel pony while reminiscing about their days in Auto Body Mechanics. Their dream is to one day own enough land to park a few junkers on so they can work on restorations in their spare time. They also wants a pony. And while we’re sharing their wishlist, owning a tank is somewhere around number 5. Not that they would use it unless there’s a zombie apocalypse, but they do like to be prepared.
Their time is balanced with utmost care between ‘normal’ family life, and being lured into the fictional realm where their characters reside. For the most part, they succeed.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2016I always enjoy this author's books.
I love how the author writes the story between her characters. Even though the two main characters, Otto and Rip, are two completely different guys with different upbringings and lifestyles, they just work together, going to show that opposites can attract.
Otto is an ex-Marine who lives in the basement of Gage and Derrick's house and trains dogs.
Rip is a nerdy art teacher who comes from an influential family and has his own house.
These two meet by chance but stay together by choice.

Street Smarts is a sweet tale of opposites attracting. Rip is an innocent school teacher and Otto has been beat up by life. Went they are brought together by Buster a little terrier mix you figure there is no way. They are just too different. But sometimes that might be just what you need. Rip needs Otto’s strength and experience and Otto needs Rips goodness. I truly enjoyed watching these two get together. This book is filled with aww moments.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2016Got admit it was the dog on the cover that got me to read the description. So happy for a sick day. I very much enjoyed the story, and just bought the first in the series.
Bianca never disappoints, great character development and so steamy loving. Hope there are more, maybe an Attorney helping Rip with his sad excuse of a mother.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2018This was an extremely enjoyable read. Otto and Rip had very divergent upbringings. Their issues shaped the men they became. When Otto saves Rips life they begin on a journey that eventually saves them both.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2016Rip was a socially awkward art teacher who when rescuing a puppy fell into a lake
Otto is ex military now a dog trainer, he stops on his bike to rest and hears Rips cry for help. Without thought he jumps in the lake to rescue Rip.
Both men like what they see and thanks to the puppy Otto decides is now theirs they have reason to meet up
They both become addicted to each other and soon they are a couple, not all goes smoothly and they face a form of prejudice from a suprises source. I really felt for Rip and all he went through as a teenager and the effects it left him with, I loved seeing him find love💞
A great read that I would like to see more of Rip & Otto's journey
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2016I am a HUGE Bianca Sommerland fan. I love her ability to make characters REAL, she makes them seem like people I could actually know and not someone I just see on tv or read about in a magazine/book. What I'm trying to say is whether it's her take on ménage, shifters or MM, MF OR FF relationships, she always does it right. She's definitely a 1click Author!
I only gave this 4 stars and that's just because I felt like we've only skimmed the surface of these characters. We learn some of Otto's and Rip's background but I really wanted so much more.. This was a really good one sitting read! It's quick, has believable characters and is cute with a bit of yummy. I recommended any and all books by Bianca!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2017Oh my how I adore Rip. This book killed me. It hot a little to close to home. But the story line is beautiful, charters both deep and well put together. It was just a great read ❤
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2016Once again, Bianca has outdone herself. I love that this was a standalone, but I will definitely be purchasing the book before it. This sweet yet meaningful story is slow building with a slow burn. Otto seems gruff and hard on the outside to everyone. But the reader gets to see his inner battle while helping Rip with his demons that he didn't know existed. My only complaint would be that it was too short. I could definitely see these characters crossing over into the Cobras series for a cameo. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars I absolutely LOVED this book!
Ugh..I didn't want this to end! I absolutely LOVED this book.
We meet the shy, awkward art teacher Rip when he tries to help an abandoned dog. In swoops retired Marine Otto (swoon), who saves Rip's life when he literally falls into trouble.
I didn't think I could like a couple more than Gage and Derek, who make plenty of appearances throughout this couple's story, but I actually enjoyed this more!
While bonding over Buster the dog who they both ultimately rescued, they end up on a journey which could go one of two ways.
Facing off against Rip's absolute witch of a mother, Otto and Rip's relationship is put to the test but these two just work together and prove opposites do attract.
Oh, and the children in Rip's art class are adorable! A lovely moment of innocent inquisition and straight up statements only kids can usually get away with.
I'm selfishly hoping there is another book in the series to catch up on both couples in the future, but also to give us a bit more of an overall outcome of whether Rip's mother gets the smack down she truly deserves.
Brilliant book, I loved it.
