Editorial Reviews

Alexander Scriabin occupies a special place in the history of Russian music. From pieces influenced by Chopin and Liszt through to the tonal deconstruction of his final works, Scriabin's evolution was constant and spectacular. An extremely talented pianist, he refused influences from the folkloric tradition and found in his instrument fertile terrain for the exploration of both technical possibilities and the expression of philosophical and spiritual ideas. This recording bears witness to this through the exhilarating and sensitive playing of Vadym Kholodenko.

This CD features some of Alexander Scriabin's finest pieces composed for the piano. Vadym Kholodenko plays them all wonderfully well. Recommended.
