Editorial Reviews
Young pianist Jan Lisiecki explores a pair of early Romantic masterpieces with the acclaimed Orpheus Chamber Orchestra: Mendelssohn's Piano Concertos in G minor and D minor. Wishing to give listeners further insight into Mendelssohn's dazzling keyboard writing beyond the well-known concertos, Lisiecki also performs a selection of some of Mendelssohn's most brilliant pieces for solo piano: the Variations serieuses, the Rondo capriccioso, and the "Venetian Boat Song" from the Songs Without Words

This really superb Mendelssohn recital by this young and brilliant concert pianist adds another sensitive discs to his ever growing DGG discography. Again, here as usual, one find really beautiful performances for their own sake and features lush, sensual tonal expression as well as featuring an exciting technique. This pianist fully understands the Art of the Musical Phrase. These colorful characteristics may be found in any disc whether it is Chopin, Schumann or Mozart. The superb Orpheus Chamber Orchestra accompanies without a conductor which is an interesting feature of this tonal ensemble; needless to say, this ensemble full understands subtle, musical and sensitive accompaniments.
Very fine program notes may be found in this 8 color photo booklet in both English and German as written by Maria-Felix Vogt.

His playing contains such clarity, ease and profound depth.
