    Might not fit you mirror...

    Might not fit you mirror...
These work great on my '07 Dodge Dakota. Lots of adjustment available. I can see how they might not clamp down on some mirrors well. If your mirror is thick and appears to have a lot of air space in the shell, then I don't know hoe well this will work. My trucks mirror shell appears to be molded in one piece, one thickness. In some cases I think it will be hard to maintain your original mirror in the position you use for everyday driving. The mirror surface is slightly convex and not really clear, just slightly out of focus, but you can certainly see well enough to tell if a vehicle is along side or behind you. Even backing up you can tell were objects are, but I don't think I could read a license plate in them. Because the do cantilever out & are (in most instances) clamped to plastic, the will vibrate. Again, I could easily make out objects. I used them on a short trip first time out, about 70 miles. Second trip was about 265, each way, and included interstate, 2 lane hwy & even some gravel road. At one point early on in trip 2, a blast of wind from an oncoming semi moved the driver side but I was able to reach out the window and move it back.I would imagine it's not easy to makes these perfectly universal & keep the price down. These came as what I expected them to be & performed how I expected them to. As someone who still ocasionally drives a semi for work as well as a 48' gooseneck, down to my camper and other personal trailers, I think my expectation is different that someone who just bought their first camper & doesn't understand hauling or towing yet. I think the biggest draw back to these is that they may now fit every application with the clamping power needed to make them secure. I'm not sure if that is the fault of Cipa USA or Ford, Chevy, etc, for making a mirror thats hard to put a tow mirror on.

I like these mirrors because of their flexibility. Totally ambidextrous, top or bottom of mirror, driver or passenger side. The bad reviews aren’t quite fair since it should be obvious that you have to tighten the screws and check them regularly! I do and never had a problem. However, I did have a problem with my car mirrors. The additional wind resistance caused my car mirror to whip back into the car door causing the trailer mirror to fly off. I used duck tape on my car mirror to prevent it from moving. Problem solved.
